เมื่อวันที่ 15-16 สิงหาคม 2568 สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย ณ กรุงสตอกโฮล์ม โดย Thailand and Nordic Countries Innovation Unit (TNIU) ร่วมกับพันธมิตรหลายภาคส่วน จัดงานเสวนา สานพลังไทย-สวีเดน สู่เมืองไม้ยั่งยืน จังหวัดแพร่ (“Jump-Start Wood City” From Local Empowerment to Global Partnerships) เพื่อหลอมรวมองค์ความรู้ แลกเปลี่ยนแนวทางปฏิบัติที่ดีด้านการบริหารจัดการป่าไม้และอุตสาหกรรมไม้ยั่งยืนจากสวีเดนและไทย สู่จังหวัดแพร่ หนึ่งในพื้นที่ยุทธศาสตร์ด้านไม้เศรษฐกิจของประเทศ ที่มีวิสัยทัศน์พร้อมพัฒนา “แพร่แซนด์บอกซ์” เมืองไม้ยั่งยืนต้นแบบของไทย
งานนี้จัดขึ้นภายใต้กรอบความร่วมมือเวทีพัฒนาไทย-สวีเดนสู่ความยั่งยืน (Thailand-Sweden Sustainable Development Forum 2025) ครั้งที่ 5 ซึ่งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทยเป็นเจ้าภาพในปีนี้ และเป็นครั้งแรกที่ได้เชื่อมความร่วมมือจากระดับโลกสู่ระดับท้องถิ่น ณ สถาบันนวัตกรรมป่าไม้จังหวัดแพร่ โดยตลอดทั้งสองวันมีผู้เข้าร่วมงานกว่า 200 คน และผู้ชมทางออนไลน์แล้วกว่า 10,000 ยอดวิว เปิดพื้นที่กลางสำหรับทุกภาคส่วนตั้งแต่หน่วยงานภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน สถาบันการศึกษาและภาคประชาสังคม มาร่วมหารือ สะท้อนความท้าทาย และโอกาสการเสริมความเข้มแข็งของห่วงโซ่คุณค่าอุตสาหกรรมป่าไม้ตั้งแต่ต้นน้ำถึงปลายน้ำ ทั้งในมิตินโยบาย กลไกทางการเงิน งานวิจัยและการศึกษา รวมถึงการขับเคลื่อน เศรษฐกิจภายใต้ผืนป่าด้วยนวัตกรรม ซึ่งภายในงาน หน่วยงานในภาคีได้มีการนำเสนอ 7 โครงการไอเดียนำร่องที่สามารถต่อยอดพัฒนาสู่โครงการความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศและภายในประเทศต่อไป
นอกจากนี้สถานเอกอัครราชทูตสวีเดน ประจำประเทศไทย ได้มีการร่วมจัดนิทรรศการ Wood Life Sweden “วิถีแห่งไม้สวีเดน” โดยนำเสนอ 40 ตัวอย่างการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมไม้ในสวีเดนตั้งแต่งานขนาดเล็กถึงโครงการขนาดใหญ่ ซึ่งเปิดให้ผู้สนใจเข้าชมได้ตั้งแต่วันที่ 15 สิงหาคม-15 ตุลาคม 2568 ณ บ้านเขียว
สวนรุกขชาติเชตวัน ศูนย์การเรียนรู้ด้านการป่าไม้ จ.แพร่
นางอรุณรุ่ง โพธิ์ทอง ฮัมฟรีย์ส เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงสตอกโฮล์ม กล่าวเปิดงานพร้อมเล่าถึงความมุ่งมั่นในการผลักดันความร่วมมือไทย-สวีเดนด้านป่าไม้ยั่งยืนมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยก่อนนี้ได้มีการจัดงานสัมมนาทางออนไลน์ นำผู้เชี่ยวชาญสวีเดนมาบรรยายที่ไทยในปี 2565 และนำคณะผู้นำขับเคลื่อนอุตสาหกรรมไม้ในประเทศไทยศึกษาดูงานระบบนิเวศนวัตกรรมอุตสาหกรรมป่าไม้ของสวีเดนในปี 2566 สู่การต่อยอดเป็นโครงการวิจัยพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมก่อสร้างอาคารไม้ในไทยที่กำลังดำเนินการในปัจจุบัน ซึ่งการเดินทางมาถึงจังหวัดแพร่ครั้งนี้ เป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญที่เพิ่มมิติความร่วมมือเชื่อมโลกสู่ไทย และเชื่อมท้องถิ่นไทยสู่โลก (Local-Global) โดยมีจังหวัดแพร่ เป็นพื้นที่ต้นแบบการพัฒนาเมืองไม้ เผยแพร่โมเดล “ตัดไม้ได้ป่า” และ ”ไม้เปลี่ยนเมือง” สู่พื้นที่ภาคเหนือและประเทศไทย เพื่อสร้างประโยชน์ สร้างรายได้ และรักษาจิตวิญญาณป่าไม้ไทยให้ยั่งยืนจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น
ด้านนายแพร์ ลินเนียร์ อุปทูตสวีเดนประจำประเทศไทย กล่าวเสริมว่า ป่าไม้คือกุญแจสำคัญในการรับมือการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ และขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจสีเขียว โดยสวีเดนตั้งเป้าหมายก่อสร้างอาคารด้วยไม้เพิ่มขึ้นถึง 50% ภายในปี ค.ศ. 2030 และพร้อมแบ่งปันเทคโนโลยีและประสบการณ์กับไทย เพื่อก้าวสู่อนาคตที่ยั่งยืนร่วมกัน
“จังหวัดแพร่ มีฝันเล็กๆ ที่กำลังเดินทางสู่เป้าหมายใหญ่ ความฝันที่จะเป็นเมืองไม้ เมืองแห่งการศึกษา และธุรกิจไม้ครบวงจร” นายคุณากร คชหิรัญ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดแพร่กล่าว
ความร่วมมือด้านป่าไม้ไทย-สวีเดนมีรากฐานยาวนานตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาลที่ 5 สานต่อจนถึงปัจจุบัน งานเสวนาครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงพลังความร่วมมืออย่างเข้มแข็งทุกภาคส่วนสู่เป้าหมายเดียวกัน โดยจังหวัดแพร่มีการหารือว่าจะเตรียมนำบรรจุประเด็น “เมืองไม้ยั่งยืน” ไว้ในแผนยุทธศาสตร์จังหวัด พ.ศ. 2571-2575 พร้อมพัฒนากลไกกลางในการมีส่วนร่วมของภาครัฐ-ภาคเอกชน-ภาคการศึกษา-ภาคประชาชน เพื่อสร้างแพร่ให้เป็นศูนย์กลางเศรษฐกิจนวัตกรรมไม้ เมืองไม้ยั่งยืนต้นแบบของไทย

Thailand-Sweden Synergy Towards a “Sustainable Wood City” in Phrae Province
On 15–16 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, through the Thailand and Nordic Countries Innovation Unit (TNIU), together with esteemed partners, organized the seminar “Jump-Start Wood City: From Local Empowerment to Global Partnerships” in Phrae Province. The event aimed to integrate knowledge and exchange best practices in sustainable forestry management and the wood industry between Sweden and Thailand, while positioning Phrae Province, a strategic area for Thailand’s bio-based economy, as the “Phrae Sandbox,” a model for Thailand’s sustainable wood city.
This seminar was held as part of the 5th Thailand-Sweden Sustainable Development Forum 2025, hosted this year by the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm. For the first time, global partnerships were connected directly to the local level at the Forest Innovation Institute in Phrae. Over two days, more than 200 participants attended in person, with over 10,000 additional viewers joining online. The forum provided an open platform for stakeholders from government, the private sector, academia, and civil society to discuss challenges and opportunities in strengthening the forestry value chain, from upstream to downstream, covering policy, financial mechanisms, research and education, and forest-based, innovation-driven growth. Seven pilot project ideas were presented, with potential for further development into both international and domestic collaborations.
In addition, the Embassy of Sweden in Thailand was invited to co-host the exhibition Wood Life Sweden, showcasing 40 examples of wood industry development in Sweden, ranging from small-scale works to large-scale projects. The exhibition runs for two months, from 15 August to 15 October 2025, at the Green House, Chetawan Arboretum Forest Learning Center, Phrae Province.
Mrs. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, delivered the opening remarks, reaffirming her strong commitment to advancing Thailand-Sweden cooperation in sustainable forestry. She highlighted past efforts, including an online seminar in 2022 with Swedish experts, a 2023 study visit by Thai wood industry leaders to Sweden’s forest innovation ecosystem, and the ongoing joint R&D project on timber-based construction in Thailand. This visit to Phrae marks another milestone, bridging local and global efforts, with Phrae serving as a model city for wood-based development. The event also promoted the concepts “Cutting trees but gaining forests” and “Wood transforms cities” to expand sustainable forest management, generate livelihoods across Northern Thailand, and preserve the Thai forestry spirit for future generations.
Mr. Per Linnér, Deputy Head of Mission of Sweden to Thailand, emphasized that forestry is key to tackling climate change and advancing the green economy. He noted that Sweden has set a target for 50% of new buildings to be constructed with wooden frame by 2030 and expressed Sweden’s readiness to share technology and expertise with Thailand for a sustainable future together.
Mr. Kunakorn Kachahirun, Deputy Governor of Phrae Province, stated:
“Phrae has a small dream that is moving toward a big goal: to become a wood city, a city of learning, and a hub for the wood industry.”
Thailand-Sweden forestry cooperation has deep roots dating back to the reign of King Rama V, and this seminar reflects the strong partnership across all sectors toward shared goals. Phrae is now considering incorporating the concept of a “Sustainable Wood City” into its Provincial Strategic Plan (2028–2032), along with central mechanisms for collaboration among government, the private sector, academia, and local communities, with the aim of establishing Phrae as Thailand’s model sustainable wood city and a center for a wood-based innovation economy.
